[He weaves around to the opposite side of the desk, hooking his fingers under the lip to move it.]

Ah- I got that side! This side's heavier, so you take this side!!

[ That's his secret drawer side, Yuya, let him take it... ]

But yeah, I'm old, see? I've got bad knees, so the stairs are really such a pain~ I was thinking if we could convince the second and first floors too, we could have a fireman's pole a~ll the down to the ground floor!!

You're not that much older! [Yuya shakes his head as he switches sides around the desk with Kano.] And I don't know who's on the first floor but I'd like to keep the floor in my closet in one piece.

[He starts to heft the desk again.] Maybe you should join me in the gym instead.

[ He's not that much older, but he is</>I> older, and it's a status symbol he's going to milk for all it's worth. ]

We can plan it so it's Toki's half that's missing the floor, it's okay~

[ Toki would think it's a good idea? Of course he will. He's never said no to Kano's bad plans before. ]

How am I going to do my own stunts on stage and move your desk if I don't work out? [Yuya lets go of the desk, leaving Kano to either stop or try to drag it himself while he flexes an arm to show off the muscle.

He's no Gongenzaka, very few people can get to that level of brick. But he is toned like an athlete, and bragging just a little about it.]

[ The desk immediately stops moving, without any real reaction on Kano's part. He might not have been pulling his weight from the start, leaving Yuya to do most of the lifting. ]

Ohh, that's right, you gotta go to the gym, or who's going to move my desk??

[ Never mind how being fit will benefit actors, it's not like Kano cares about physically being able to do anything on stage when he can just play pretend and look the part. ]

What's the thing they say? You're supposed to lift from the legs? Don't skip out on leg day, Yu~ya!!

I never skip leg day. [Yuya moves to grip the desk again, not waiting for Kano as he starts to drag it again.] Anyway, it's nice to work out. I feel better after it.

[ Great, Yuya can drag it all by himself, with Kano hand-hovering as moral support. At least there's nobody downstairs to disturb with all the racket, unless Toki's there trying to sleep. Or Kuroko. Sorry, Kuroko. ]

You're that sorta person, huh? People say the same thing about a pint of ice cream~ I wonder which one makes a person happier?

Ice cream makes me happy, too... [These are not mutually exclusive concepts to him. Why not have both, ice cream after a nice run?]

I guess it depends on the person? Nana likes sweet things, so I think she'd say ice cream. But it's not Gongenzaka's favorite, so he'd rather work out.

[ Because the concept is a pint of ice cream all at one time while binge watching movies and crying, which is sort of at odds with the usual marathon runner. ]

Bonbon definitely doesn't work out to be happy. He knows the number of stairs in the Quad, did you know that???

[ Who climbs the stairs in the Quad just because!!? And enough times to know how exactly how many steps there are. ]

[Yuya will absolutely do both of those things, in the same day even.

Yuya flinches visibly. Gongenzaka doesn't do much at all out of happiness, no matter how much Yuya tries.]

I think he works out on them. [So that's probably why he knows.] Anyway, he still likes doing it.

[ Yuya's a weird kid, whereas Kano can't see what's so great about running or eating more than two spoonfulls of ice cream at a time. ]

Ehh, it can't be fun, though? It's repetitive, and boring! Don't you think he'd have more fun and exciting if it were running, but with a goal? Like, maybe he's being chased by a swarm of bees?

Nobody would like being chased by bees. [Before he gets any ideas.]

And the goal is to be healthy and feel good? He does Judo too, he's really strong. [Yuya rolls his shoulder before using his hip to nudge the desk into place.]

Anyway, you finding it boring doesn't mean it is, it just means you don't like it. It's normal for people to have different interests.

[ Dresser and desk in place, that just leaves the beds, which Kano motions for Yuya to help him with. AKA do almost all the work. Just gotta shove them together. ]

Hm... I guess that's how it is!! I think it'd be more fun getting chased by bees than having to climb endless stairs, but that just makes me strange? Fighting and all that, I have no need for it, so I'll let you and Bonbon handle that~

[Yuya pauses when he puts his hand to the bed.] What about self defense? You were already kidnapped once, and it'll be even more dangerous when Nightfall happens.

Aah, well...

[ Kidnapping was... He's not going to say anything about it, how he and Adelaide mutually agreed to never talk about it and so nobody gets to know the full details of all of that. It doesn't matter!! It's in the past. ]

I won't be in the front lines, so that doesn't matter? Besides, if it comes to a war, there's nothing to be gained from kidnapping me. It's not like I know anything that can be tortured out of me, and it's not like people would be fool to rush in and get me back.

[Yuya just stares at Kano for a moment, shoulders sinking. Like that's really what matters, and he hopes Kano doesn't think it's some battlefield that he can stand far enough away from to avoid. Daemons will go after the vulnerable. Those who can't fight are at even more risk.

But wasn't Yuya here so he could be the one to do that? So that he could carry the burden for his friends?

In the silence he reaches to, and tries to grab Kano's hand with a gentle squeeze.]

I'm definitely a fool that rushes in. [He smiles genuinely despite that.] So try and keep yourself safe so I don't have to, okay?

[ He thought he was being convincing, but Yuya's even more of a fool than he thought, taking his hands like that and Kano can only let them hang limply in Yuya's grasp. It was a mistake to make friends, and it was an even greater mistake making friends with Yuya. He's going to get Yuya killed someday, especially at the rate he's going. ]

If you know that, you should also know better! I'll do my best to keep myself alive, but I'll also be counting on you~

Yeah. [He knows it'll get worse, and nothing they do can stop that. So he definitely needs to get strong enough before then.

He smiles warmly.] You can trust me! I'm not going to stop getting stronger, and I'll protect you.

[Nana, too, Gongenzaka and all his other friends.

He lets go, giving Kano a moment to get on position opposite to the bed before starting to push it in place.]

[ He says that, and meanwhile Kano will die two to three times this month alone, but Yuya doesn't know that. Kano's going to almost kill Yuya two or three times this month too, so really, it's like they're even?

Kano goes over to his side of the bed and leans his weight against the frame. Ugh. His side barely moves, as Yuya's slides into place. He's definitely weak, and spends too much time strolling around scheming instead of going out on runs or lifting weights. Doesn't matter. ]

Come here and help me with my side too~

[ How in the world did he even manage to rearrange the furniture in the first place?? Mysteries. ]

[Yuya assumes Ellie did it.]

That's awful, Kano. [Yuya shakes his head, but he comes around and uses his shoulder to push the other side in place.] Are you having fun?

[ Ellie could definitely singlehandedly rearrange all the furniture all by herself, but like most things in his life, it was something set in place far before she'd arrived here in the academy, from the furniture to the hidden spaces under the floor and in his desk, there's a lot he's grateful he had a single bedroom for all these years.

Still, the help is nice, and he's grateful for that too, telling aside to let Yuya do all the work, because it's not like Kano would be any help and would just be in the way. ]

Yep, it's fun~ How 'bout you?

I think we should get some ice cream after. [Yuya winks, adjusting the bed before walking to the other bed to slide it into place as well. This is probably close enough to the middle.]
