[ Kano looks absolutely delighted, because he'll hold Yuya to that promise, even though he had refused to answer Yuya's question in the first place. ]

Alright~! I know the perfect place!! We'll go get our ice cream, and then we're taking a day trip~

[There's a pit of dread in Yuya's stomach, not even at the idea of telling Kano specifically so much as admitting that feeling at all.]

Fine. [He pulls back, suddenly less enthused for ice cream. It'll be on Kano to follow up with it, or else Yuya will let the topic die forever.]

[ This is divine retribution for bringing up the topic of love lives, Yuya. Kano takes Yuya's hand before he can escape— he knows that expression— and drags him to the nearest ice cream shop so they can get their ice cream and sprinkles and disgusting bright red cherries. ]

[The worst handholding.

At least he's suitably distracted by the ice cream enough to not look like he's on his way to an execution, getting a chocolate double-scoop come with lots of sprinkles and whip cream. And like 20 napkins because he has no table manners and will make a mess.]

[ Kano does like to ruin the handholding experience for people.

He fills his waffle cone with sprinkles before setting his two scoops on top- both mint chip- and even though he asks for a cherry on top, the moment they get their ice creams and are shooed outside so they don't drip on the floor, Kano gives his cherry to Yuya. ]

Wanna hang outside to eat, or eat while we walk?

We'd still be walking outside, wouldn't we? So if that's not to boring for you... [He adjusts his hold on his ice cream, two-hands so Kano can't claim his again and also because he's trying to eat as quickly as he can at the edges to combat the melting.]

Walking it is~!!

[ Kano only needs one hand for his cone so he goes ahead and links arms with Yuya in lieu of handholding, a reminder that there is no escape.

Like this, its not boring, and Kano makes his own fun out of eating the ice cream. AKA he licks his ice cream and ignores all the chocolate chips so that, at the end, he's left with a cone filled with a sludge of half-melted rainbow sprinkles and chocolate. The best part.

Anyways, they're headed out of town. ]

[Yuya would feel more embarrassed about it if it wasn't that he knew it's just because Kano is keeping him hostage for answers.]

Where are we going?

[ It's not really a secret. There just aren't any street names or building names to pinpoint the place on a map. They're going to be mountains!!! One of Kano's secret bases. ]

[Yuya sticks his tongue out, but he notices eventually that they're heading to mountain territory.

He looks behind them again. Are the guards still following?]

[ The guards are still following, but they've given the two boys quite a bit of space. They each have ice cream cones of their own, too, so that might be why, but they don't hurry to catch up, either.

Kano's lived here for three years. He's taken this same mountain path for three years. These guards have had him as a charge for three years, knows where he's going, and they're fine with it. ]

[Well... as long as they keep their distance. Yuya's not offended by their presence, but if they're sharing secrets, Yuya doesn't want it to get out even to them.

It's also hard to take them seriously with ice cream cones.

Yuya focuses on his, nibbling the edge of the cone with the remains of the top scoop.]

[ Once they get to the mountains, Kano pours his sprinkles and chocolate onto the ground and crunches on just the waffle cone, leading the way over to one of his makeshift bases— a little nook high up on the mountains where it's blocked off from three sides, campus to their backs and in front of them the wide expanse of mountain range. In this spot, it forms a cave of sorts, where the wind blowing past the mouth gets caught and starts to howl, and if the guards keep their distance and stands there, Kano and Yuya can sit and talk without being overheard. ]

Here we are~! Welcome, welcome, make yourself at home! [ There's nothing but snow and rock. ] What do you think?

[ Sometimes Kano comes here to scream. He'll come here on his own sometime later this month, and that'll be what Toki saw last month that sent him running off to China. ]

It's really nice. [Yuya smiles, looking around as he slips inside and sits down with his back to the stone.] You have a nice view.

It's nice, right?

[ Kano settles in front of him, curled up with his knees to his chest so that his back is to the mouth of the cave. Just in case Yuya's worried about the guards reading lips, or something. ]

The sun doesn't reach here, so it's nice and snowy all year round! Keep it a secret, alright? This little place of mine~

[Yuya smiles, putting a finger to his lips.] I won't tell anyone.

[And then he quickly devours the rest of his ice cream cone.]

[ Kano waits until Yuya's mouth is stuffed full to the max before he asks ]

So, who do you like?

[Yuya chokes.

He pounds his fist to his chest as he tries to clear his throat, pointedly looking away. He considers saying it's Kano, but decides making his friendship with him and Nana and their budding romance awkward isn't worth hiding who he really likes. Probably.]

Me liking guys is a secret. [He emphasizes, so Kano doesn't forget he can't tell a soul. Yuya's face is already burning.]

I... I like. Gongenzaka, a lot.

[ Yuya should've just gone for it, but his chance at making Kano shut up slips away when he decides to tell the truth.

It's a secret, yeah, and Kano won't tell a soul. There's really no need to, because anybody can see that and guess... ]

He~h... It's like that, huh? I'm rooting for you!!

[Anyone except Gongenzaka himself.]

I'm not asking him on a date! [Yuya's face heats up even more as he crosses his arms stubbornly.]

Eeh, why not? How sad for Bonbon!! If you can't give me a good reason, I'll have you tell me two more people~

[ There's really nothing Kano can do to coerce Yuya, but he'll figure out a way. ]

[Yuya unwinds his arms so he can push Kano's shoulder.]

Because he doesn't like me that way. And I wouldn't be a good match for someone like him.

[ ...No, no, he shouldn't say anything else, it's not his place. He sits up a little straighter, and leans forward. ]

Bzzztt!! Not a good reason! Now, spill, if you were to go out with two other people, who would it be? It could just be for fun!

[ Getting the topic off Gongenzaka is a mercy, Kano thinks, but we'll see. ]

[Yuya looks at Kano flatly and then reaches to try and pinch Kano's cheeks and pull on them. What's not a good reason, punk?]

[ Kano splutters and laughs and pulls out of the way. It's not a good reason!!! Taking yourself out of the running just 'cause you think the other person doesn't like you, you don't know that. ]

Haha, come on and tell me, Yu~ya!! I'm a good secret keeper!
