[Yuya is still not agreeing to share his underwear.]

Why didn't you pack anything? I told you to do it before I got here!

[Nag nag, are you 7 or 17 Kano (he's 7).]

I packed the important stuff!! Here, give me your phone real quick.

[Ugh, but Yuya hands his phone over.]

Underwear is important. Don't you have that really deep pocket anyway?

[He remembers, from the milkshakes.]

Yeah.

[ Kano drops the phone into his really deep pocket where it'll disappear forever. ]

--Hey! [Yuya tugs on his jacket immediately.] You can't steal my phone!

I'm not stealing your phone~ I'm holding onto it!

[ He grins, shoving his hands in his pockets so Yuya can't get at anything ]

So you're not allowed to play on your phone at all during the plane right, okay? You gotta play with me!!

I wasn't going to anyway... you need to give it back to me before we land, because I have to let my mom know when we get there and where to pick us up.

[And, possibly, to buy Kano underwear. But he won't fight for it for now, and just keep pulling Kano to the bus, load onto the bus, and drive to the airport so they can get through security and board. It's going to be a long flight.

Luckily they'll have seats next to each other, Yuya wanted to make sure they wouldn't have trouble keeping track of each other.]

I'll give it back before we land, but until then, it's mine~

[ It's going to be a very very long trip, because Kano hates buses, he hates planes, and he's going to spent more than half the time hiding in the bathroom until somebody threatens to unscrew the door so another passenger can pee. ]

[Yuya's not fond of them either. But they settle in, the flight staff goes through the safety procedures while Yuya flips through one of the magazines with a list of some of the build in entertainment. He's not going to sleep on the plane, so he needs to know ahead of time what he's going to do when Kano sleeps.]

You said you've never been to Japan, right?

[ Kano's already illusioning his seatbelt so he doesn't actually have to wear it. ]

Yep, never been! I've seen pictures of the mountain on food wrappers, though? Fiji?

[ Fuji... but you get the idea ]

[I'd say this is how he dies, but if we're completely honest it's not going to save them in a crash anyway.]

Mount Fuji. We're going to be up north, though... [He points up.] But Sendai's really nice! It's on the coast so we have a beach, and the forests the other way and there's a lot to do downtown.

[ Kano slouches in his seat, putting his feet up against the backseat of the chair in front of him, because he's rude.

A beach, forest, downtown... hm. ]

Tell me more about it! Do you live close to downtown? Is there a su~per huge mall? With lots of people? Does the forest have bears??

It has Gongenzaka's family. [He snorts, grinning to himself.] I live in between Gongenzaka's house on the outskirts and downtown. There's a mall, and a lot of shopping districts, parks... I guess a lot of things you'd see in any big city. But there's also the castle, and the Daikannon, and really nice onsens. If you want to get away from people, it's really pretty there and outside the city.

[ Oh, it's a big city... That's what he was trying to get out of Yuya, the size of the city. It's probably something he could have looked up on his own, but if he did that, he would never have answered Yuya's text to begin with.

But that's fine, there's still good things that could come out of this trip. ]

Let's go visit Bonbon's house.

[ While he's not there. ]

[It's a very big city. Thankfully it's also a city well known for it's nature around the city, and getting out and away from it all is very easy. Yuya had to hide a dragon somehow, after all.

He also might still be there visiting family, Yuya's not sure.] Hm? Sure, did you want to meet the people at the dojo? It's on the same ground as his house.

Nope! I just want to see his house. You can point me towards it and I'll be fine on my own?

[Please don't pester Gon's family...

Yuya pouts.] Are you just going to leave me while we're there?

[ no promises ]

Don't you live real close by? You should spend some time with your family, now that you're back.

It's just my mom. And we are going to see her, but I asked you to come so we could hang out together. You know, someplace new and off school grounds.

[He starts flipping through the screen in front of him, looking at the movie options.] Just to have fun.

[ Kano leans forward and just clicks a random movie so Yuya can give Kano his undivided attention. The move is Stephen King's It. ]

And all your other pets too, right? You promised I could play with them, right?? Don't forget about them!!

[ Half the vacation is at the zoo, the other half is Kano lying on the living room floor sleeping with Yuya's animals. ]

[He hates horror movies!! He smashes the pause button immediately and turns to Kano.] You can pet them! Since you're sleeping over, you'll see them every night. And mom will have breakfast and dinner for us unless we eat out.

[ There's a kid with a red balloon on the title screen, it'll be a cute movie, probably. ]

Your mom does that? Does she work?

[ Not like a rude question or anything, but Kano's just surprised, because his mother worked night shifts. She was always asleep by the time he got up in the mornings, and he would stay outside until evening when she leaves for work. Sitting down to a meal together just wasn't a thing. ]

Yeah. [He looks thoughtful.] Well, she didn't when I was really little but she went back to work after my dad disappeared. And sold the house and we moved to an apartment that's cheaper. I think that's why she doesn't have to do a lot of overtime.

[Who knows what she does now that Yuya's gone most of the year, though. Maybe party with her old gang.]

[ There's a little surge of jealousy at that, the idea of Yuya's mother being home for him when he was little, when Kano barely got to see his mother even when she was alive, and so he tried to cling to what time he got with her. ]

Hm~ Well, good for her! Now that her baby boy's out of the house, she can go out and do whatever she wants! I wonder what adults do in their spare time? I would just sleep all day...

Hobbies, like we do. [If Kano was a normal kid.] She has friends, so she can spend more time with them since I'm not around much... and ride her motorcycle.

[No being a delinquent and causing crimes, though, she has to set some sort of example for him.

Yuya sinks back in his seat.] It's going to be a long fight... are you going to sleep at all?

[Because Yuya's not.]
