Don't you live real close by? You should spend some time with your family, now that you're back.

It's just my mom. And we are going to see her, but I asked you to come so we could hang out together. You know, someplace new and off school grounds.

[He starts flipping through the screen in front of him, looking at the movie options.] Just to have fun.

[ Kano leans forward and just clicks a random movie so Yuya can give Kano his undivided attention. The move is Stephen King's It. ]

And all your other pets too, right? You promised I could play with them, right?? Don't forget about them!!

[ Half the vacation is at the zoo, the other half is Kano lying on the living room floor sleeping with Yuya's animals. ]

[He hates horror movies!! He smashes the pause button immediately and turns to Kano.] You can pet them! Since you're sleeping over, you'll see them every night. And mom will have breakfast and dinner for us unless we eat out.

[ There's a kid with a red balloon on the title screen, it'll be a cute movie, probably. ]

Your mom does that? Does she work?

[ Not like a rude question or anything, but Kano's just surprised, because his mother worked night shifts. She was always asleep by the time he got up in the mornings, and he would stay outside until evening when she leaves for work. Sitting down to a meal together just wasn't a thing. ]

Yeah. [He looks thoughtful.] Well, she didn't when I was really little but she went back to work after my dad disappeared. And sold the house and we moved to an apartment that's cheaper. I think that's why she doesn't have to do a lot of overtime.

[Who knows what she does now that Yuya's gone most of the year, though. Maybe party with her old gang.]

[ There's a little surge of jealousy at that, the idea of Yuya's mother being home for him when he was little, when Kano barely got to see his mother even when she was alive, and so he tried to cling to what time he got with her. ]

Hm~ Well, good for her! Now that her baby boy's out of the house, she can go out and do whatever she wants! I wonder what adults do in their spare time? I would just sleep all day...

Hobbies, like we do. [If Kano was a normal kid.] She has friends, so she can spend more time with them since I'm not around much... and ride her motorcycle.

[No being a delinquent and causing crimes, though, she has to set some sort of example for him.

Yuya sinks back in his seat.] It's going to be a long fight... are you going to sleep at all?

[Because Yuya's not.]

[ lmao what are hobbies? Yuya's mom has more friends than he does too, wow why is she so much cooler than him ]

He~h, I want to meet her friends! It's an airplane, so we're not allowed to sleep! When the cart comes down with the drinks, get lots of coffee!!

[ Kano's going to hide in the bathroom to nap. ]

I'm not going to sleep, I was just wondering if you were. [Tea, coffee, as much as they'll give him for free and then halfway through he'll need like 6 bathroom breaks.

He doesn't know if her friends will be around to hang with them, but maybe he can ask when they land.]

[ She's probably the coolest person in the world and Kano can't be mad about that.

Yuya also wouldn't be able to use the bathroom because Kano's locked up in there, but that's not yet. ]

[That's exactly why. Also this plane probably has two bathrooms, it's fine.]

... Yeah. [He shrugs a shoulder, glancing away.] I always have, so... I really hate sleeping in public.

Caffeine? [That's what he always did, caffeine and playing different games so he didn't start to doze off during one.] What's your idea?

[ Kano unpauses the movie screen. ]

Horror movie marathon.

[ No matter how tired Yuya is, he wouldn't dare to sleep. ]

[Yuya smacks the screen onto pause so fucking fast.]

Better idea! If I start falling asleep, slap me.

[ Kano laughs ]

Nope, can't do that! I love you too much~

[ He can't hurt Yuya physically... only emotionally. He unpauses the screen again and tries to grab Yuya's wrists so he can't undo his work. ]

This feels like the opposite. [He is straining against that hold.] Let's play a game instead!

Alright~! We'll play "who can last the longest without screaming while watching horror movies"!!

Yuya jerks his wrists free, and then proceeds to wind bother of his arms around Kano's and grips it firmly in his hands.] So you're watching this with me.

[ He is absolutely not watching lmfao are you kidding him? ]

[Yuya isn't eigher, he immediately starts to do that thing where you look off-center so you can't really see the screen, like a weenie.

While holding Kano in place by his arm because he will not be abandoned this time!!]

[ That was Kano's tactic...

Too bad the volume's up and when the clown shows up and eats the kid- something like this, I can't remember what happens in the movie-- Kano jolts BUT HE DOESN'T SCREAM he's not losing the game that easily. ]

[He hears gross sounds and he bites his lip and sucks in a sharp breath and he's frozen with his hands tightly wound in Kano's hoodie sleeve. He longs for death.]
