Cold hot chocolate is chocolate milk.

[Makes sense to him. Maybe if you use the powdered mix it doesn't work as well but at this school they get the nice melted chocolate kind, which in Yuya's mind isn't far off from the syrup in milk.]

[ Ha! Take that Maverick. ]

[ He spoons off the rainbow sprinkles and hands the rest of the cup to Yuya. ]

[Yeah, Yuya gets the feeling he's being asked to settle something.

But he takes the shake, using his teeth to hold his straw as he pulls it out of his and sticks it into Kano's to take a sip. The initial mix of peanut butter and mint isn't... great... but once he gets to just the mint it's fine.

He offers the cup back to Kano after sticking his straw back into his cup.] Ready to head back?

[ If Yuya had disagreed, Kano would have said nothing and continued to believe he's in the right, but now it's 2 against 1 and he's got the leverage here, taking his cup back after Yuya gets his sip and using the tip of his straw to scoop the chocolate chips out of the shake and eats those first. ]

Depends. Are you sleepy yet?

[ Or is this having the opposite effect? ]

We've got the full hour, you know?

I will be when I take this. [He washes the little pill package.] So I won't until we're actually ready for bed, if thete's something else you want to do.

You have to finish this off too--

[ He gives his cup a shake; it's systematically being devoid of chocolate chips, leaving just this terrible mint-peanut butter combination. ]

But if I get free rein for half an hour... then the greenhouse to check up on the bees!!

No thanks. [Yuya gently pushes the shake back to Kano.] We can go check on your bees, but throw that out if you don't want it.

I'm not going to throw it out?? I'm going to save it in a thermos and keep it until it's full. If you can't finish yours either, I'll take it off your hands...

[ Mixed drinks for a later day, no food gets wasted here. ]

If I can't finish it. [But he's not done with it yet, taking another pointed sip before nudging Kano towards the exit. Let's go check those bees.]

[ If Yuya can finish it, it'll work in Kano's favor anyways, so Kano heads off towards the greenhouse, letting his milkshake melt in between his palms instead of drinking any more of it, so it can be soft and pourable when he gets his thermos out.

How are his bees..... he actually hasn't been to the greenhouse in a long while. The greenhouse is also closed and locked shut, seeing how it's midnight and nobody should need to be here anyways. ]

Hm...

[ Pressing his face against the glass... ]

Where did we leave the hive, again?

In the middle. [Yuya squints, leaning in as well.

He points.] There's the cabinet... I don't see any flying but it's night, so they might be sleeping?

[ Somewhere in the middle... It's hard to see, especially with the dim lighting only provided by the moon and lamps high up around the street, but there's something vaguely cabinet shaped in there. ]

...if we set fire to the greenhouse, people'd be really mad, huh?

Hey, let's not push their limits any further right now, okay? [They're lucky he even got an hour!! It can get so much worse, nevermind expulsion.]

We'll come check on them in the morning. There's lots of flowers, so I'm sure they're fine.

[ He didn't exactly mean right now, but it's good to see that Yuya will immediately veto his bad ideas when they're brought up; if only Kano's conscience worked the same way. ]

Mm, alright! If something happens to them, I'll be really mad, so I hope everybody's safe and happy in there~!

[Setting fire to the greenhouse is a firm 'no, never'. But Yuya's sure Kano has other ideas that normally wouldn't be so troublesome if he wasn't likely being scrutinized for summoning a demon and getting people hurt.]

You gave them a good home, so they should be.

[ It would have been a small fire... a small controlled fire to start and anything that happens after is out of Kano's hands. ]

Hm~ It's temporary, but it'll do for now!! We'll have to upgrade later, but for now, bedtime, bedtime... We'd better get you a toothbrush before we head back too, 'cause I'm not letting you go to sleep until you brush your teeth!!

Okay, okay! [They can take a detour back to the convenience station for a toothbrush, giving Yuya plenty of time to finish his shake before they get back to Kano's room.

He offers the guards the bright smile as they pass by and back, going to the bathroom to brush his teeth and take the sleeping pill and giving Kano time to settle back in with the blanket. Which he'll want back.]

[ Yuya is not getting the blanket back. Once Yuya's out of the bathroom, Kano's already thrown the blanket back on top of the bed with Nightmare. ]

Go on~ I'll be there after I brush my teeth!

[Well then Yuya's going to just try and take it off the bed again.] Should I turn the light off?

[ no..... his lizard is cold blooded, she'll freeze ]

Leave it on for a bit, I don't want to crush Nightmare on the way up!

[She has the second blanket, and maybe actually put her in a proper environment.]

Sure. [Yuya bundles back up in the same spot he was before. It doesn't take so long to get to sleep this time. There's one false start, and then he's completely knocked out in twenty minute regardless if Kano is back or talking to him.]

[ One blanket isn't enough when she's used to the two-blanket two-pillow life!!!! But maybe Kano should find her a proper environment, yeah.

Kano finishes up brushing his teeth and pulls his old smelly jacket back over his clothes too before coming back to the room, stepping over Yuya and dropping Nightmare down on top of Yuya's stomach. Finally... for the first time in months, he can sleep in a real bed. ]

[He could have had a proper bed for months if he didn't lose her tank and misuse the heat lamp.

Yuya doesn't react to a lizard on his stomach, peacefully asleep. For a while, at least.

It's not quite an hour when he starts whimpering something stirring in place.]

[ Kano stays awake the entire time, tapping on his phone and snacking on a little baggie of stale pretzels he found in his jacket pocket, when he hears the skittering of Nightmare's feet on the hardwood floor as she slips off Yuya's stomach and glares balefully up at Kano.

Alright, alright... Quietly, he switches on the recorder on his phone, and hops off the bed to place Nightmare back on top of the mattress. He can sit on top of the desk for the rest of the night, he'd slept some during the day already anyways. ]

[For all Yuya's shifting, he doesn't really roll out of place more than sluggishly trashing his head and, occasionally, his arm. A minute passes, two, and he still seems caught up in his dream.] No... why...
